The transparent food-jar market is projected to grow from about $4.44 billion in 2026 to $8 billion by 2035. A lot of that growth is dry-food brands — granola, nuts, candy, cereals — moving off glass and onto PET. The reasons are blunt.
Freight math
Glass jars are heavy. Ship a pallet of granola across a continent and the jar is a large share of the weight you pay to move. PET jars cut that mass dramatically, and the freight saving compounds at container scale.
Breakage math
Glass loses 3–5% in transit and in the warehouse. PET loses under one-tenth of a percent. For a DTC brand, that difference is the line between margin and write-off.
Shelf math
A clear PET jar shows the product — and for dry food, seeing the chunks, the color, the fill level is the purchase trigger. Transparent packaging can lift purchase intent by up to 30%.
